Daniel L. “Danny” Gilmore

Daniel L. “Danny” Gilmore, 75, of the Mineral Springs Community in Jemison, passed away on Nov. 23 at his residence.

He was born in Jemison on Nov. 30, 1938, the son of the late Graham D. Gilmore and the late Pearlie Hilyer Gilmore.

He was a former construction superintendent. He was also a faithful member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Gilmore coached church and independent league softball for many years, and was instrumental in shaping the lives of many young boys. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His three grandsons were his pride and joy, and he found his heartfelt pleasure in keeping up with them in their sports activities.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Gilmore of Jemison; daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Martin of Jemison; grandsons: Tyler Martin, Wesley Martin and Daniel Martin all of Jemison; brother, Billy Gilmore of Newport, Ore.; brother, Jimmy Gilmore of Gardendale; sister, Margaret Wyatt of Thorsby; brother, David Gilmore of Georgia; sister, Judy Houston of Birmingham; sister, Donna Sharp of Montgomery and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Graham and Pearlie Gilmore; brother, Carl W. Gilmore; sister, Doris Bice; nephew, Robby Gilmore; and nieces, Sonya Hunt and Cindy Gilmore.

Visitation will be held on Nov. 25, from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held on Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. from Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison, the Rev. Jason Rothe, and the Rev. Matt Hilyer officiating.

The body will also be in state two hours prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Clanton.
