Executive director for the Chilton County Emergency Assistance Center Terry Collier was honored Wednesday afternoon for his nine years of service at the center.

“We just wanted to take the time today to thank him for the job he has done,” Emergency Assistance Center board member Gay West said.

Collier said he enjoys the job due to being able to “help people.”

“That is the most enjoyable part of this job,” said Collier, 65.

The Emergency Assistance Center was incorporated in 1983 and helps residents with food, clothing and disaster relief funding.

The center would not be able to stay open without the help of volunteers, Collier said.

Chairman of the board Curtis Smith said Collier has been an outstanding man for the job.

“He takes this job seriously,” Smith said. “He comes here early and stays late. We are thrilled to be able to honor him today. He has been here in this position longer than anyone else.”

Board members and staff at the Emergency Assistance Center celebrated Collier’s service with refreshments at the Emergency Assistance Center on Wednesday.

Smith also presented Collier with a plaque thanking him for the work he has done and continues to do.

The Emergency Assistance Center is located off Enterprise Road.
