With losses at Marbury last week to start the basketball season, the home portion of Chilton County High School’s season didn’t start any better as both the varsity girls and varsity boys fell to visiting Shelby County High School on Monday.

Turnovers hurt the Chilton County girls throughout their matchup as Shelby County easily cruised to a 47-18 victory.

The three points were the last the Tigers would muster during the first period as the Wildcats went on a 15-0 run to end the first period with a 15-3 lead.

The trend continued in the second period as the Wildcats opened on a 6-0 run.

Lexis Blackman finally broke the run with a two-point basket. She accounted for all six of the Tigers’ second-period points.

Chilton went into the locker room for halftime down 34-9.

Blackman was all of the CCHS offense in the third period, too, adding four more points to her total.

SCHS added eight more points in the period thanks to two three-pointers by Cat Nash, and Shelby County took a 42-13 lead into the final period.

With a comfortable lead and substituting freely, the Wildcats cruised through the final period on their way to the win.

Blackman lead the Tigers with 11 points, three rebounds and a block.

Karah Goodwin led the way for the Wildcats with 10 points, six rebounds and five steals.

CCHS boys also fall to 0-2

Chilton County’s boys team fared no better as the Wildcats jumped out to an early lead in the first half and never relinquished that advantage on their way to a 72-44 win.
