The Isabella Mustangs gave the home crowd much to cheer about as they pounded out a 47-7 win over the visiting Thorsby Rebels in the final game of the regular season.

The Mustangs (6-2 overall, 3-2 region) took a commanding lead over the Rebels (7-3, 5-1) early, scoring two touchdowns in the first five minutes of play.

Isabella led 31-7 at halftime.

Thorsby’s only touchdown and extra point came with 5:30 left in the second quarter.

Isabella head coach Scott Booth said he was glad to see his team approach the game with “enthusiasm.”

“We just wanted to come out and have fun playing football tonight,” Isabella head coach Scott Booth said after the game. “The enthusiasm was there. Tonight we played for four quarters, which was what we were looking for.”

Booth said his players have worked hard to improve and will face McKenzie on Nov. 7 in the first round of the playoffs.

“I’m proud of our seniors,” he said. “I’m happy we finished out with a win for them.”
