Clanton police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic crash that occurred Sunday night in Clanton.

The crash happened at about 7:20 p.m. on U.S. Highway 31 in front of Best Cars, according to a post on the Clanton Police Department’s Facebook page by CPD Chief Brian Stilwell on Sunday.

A suspect has been located, the post said.

Traffic on Highway 31 near Best Cars was re-routed for several hours after the crash to allow CPD traffic homicide investigators to work the scene.

No further information was available as the investigation continues.
