Visiting Maplesville scored the first point of the match, but the lead didn’t last long as Sarah Graham led the Mustangs on a 3-0 run from the serving position.

That was as close as the Red Devils (3-5, 1-2) would get in the first set, and with set point, Akwanza Robinson capped off the set with a kill to give the Mustangs the first-set win.

The two teams battled back and forth through the start of the second set to an 8-all tie, and Kendrauna Griffen took over serving duties for the Devils and helped them to a 10-8 lead.

The lead wouldn’t last, as with the teams tied at 18-all, Brianna Tyler took over serving duties for the Mustangs and led a 7-0 run to close out the set.

MHS again struck early in the third set, leading by as many as three point, but again, the lead wouldn’t last as the Mustangs went on a 12-0 run behind the serving of Jayda Jones and the net play of Robinson and Kacie Adams. At 22-11, the Red Devils finally broke the Isabella serve, but it wasn’t enough to keep IHS from cruising to a win in the set and match..

Synia Chattman led the Mustangs with 11 kills and three blocks while Tyler added seven aces.

Adams pitched in five kills, one block and eight assists for Isabella.

Lacee Wallace had three kills, and Tayuna Watson added two more kills for the Red Devils.
