The only thing Chilton Christian Academy celebrated Friday was homecoming as visiting Clay County Christian Academy claimed a 48-26 win over the Patriots.

Nevin Todd ran in the Patriots’ first touchdown of the game in the first quarter.

Nick Haube caught a Trent Ray pass for another CCA touchdown in the second quarter, but the Eagles’ offense was too much for the Patriots to shut down.

Clay County led 36-13 at halftime.

The Patriots posted two more touchdowns in the second half.

Defensively, Haube had 13 tackles.

Zach Davis had seven tackles.

Haube was lead rusher with 36 yards, and he had 117 receiving yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Trent Ray was nine of 16 with 181 yards and one touchdown.

Patriots head coach Thomas Lyon described the game as “rough,” noting his team started the game without a starter and then lost another player to injury during the game.

“When you’re short-staffed as it is … it’s a little hard to keep it going,” Lyon said. “We’ve got to play harder. They’re still young. We’ll just try to point out the positives we did and work on the things we need to get better.”
