Two teenagers were arrested in Jemison Thursday and charged with theft of property and criminal mischief.

Justin Ryan Lucas, 18, of Randolph and Stephen Nickolas Bean, 18, of Jemison, were taken into custody at the Chilton County Jail for stealing a boat from M&M Boats.

“On Wednesday evening at approximately 10 p.m., the Jemison Police Department received a call of a boat being stolen from M&M Boats,” Jemison Police Chief Shane Fulmer said in a release.

M&M Boats is located near Interstate 65 Exit 219.

Fulmer said a police report was taken, and the case was turned over to investigators with the JPD.

“Investigators began working the case and within 24 hours had both individuals in custody, and the stolen property recovered,” Fulmer said. “We work extremely hard on all of these cases with the hope that they end up as this one did. Not all do, but that is our primary objective. The individuals responsible are caught, put in jail, and the property owners’ property is located and returned.”

Court records indicate that both Bean and Lucas have a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. in front of Chilton County District Judge Rhonda Hardesty.

Theft of property is a Class C felony and criminal mischief second degree is a Class A misdemeanor.
