The 2014 Peach Jam Jubilee is set for Friday, June 27 from 5-11 p.m. at Clanton City Park.

The Chilton County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual event, which will feature three bands, a $1,000 giveaway, food and arts and crafts vendors.

“We have more than 100 vendors right now,” said Brittani Ellison, Chamber executive assistant. “This year we will have three bands playing to give the event more variety. This is something different than what we did last year when we only had one band.”

Local praise band ‘Elevate’ will perform at 6:30 p.m. followed by Southern Pride at 7:30 p.m. and Valley Road Bluegrass at 8:30 p.m.

Other events happening Friday include:

•Dancers from Central Cheer Dance and Twirl, Cornerstone Fitness and Wellness and Just Dance will perform beginning at 5:15 p.m.

•Tethered hot air balloon rides will be offered from 6-8 p.m. The rides are free.

•A $1,000 giveaway at 11 p.m. Ellison said individuals who register have to be present at the event to register and must be present to win.

“Individuals have to be 18 and older, and you can only register one time,” Ellison said. “This is the first year we are doing this so it will be really neat.”

The event is free to attend, but children entering the Kid Zone, sponsored by Boyd’s Place, with inflatables and amusement rides, is $10 for wrist bands.

Ellison said the event is a “rain or shine” event, but if there is serious inclement weather, the Chamber will make a decision to cancel or not by noon on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, there is a 30-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night with a low of 70 degrees.

The parade’s route will follow its usual course, making its way through downtown Clanton, before winding back to Clanton City Park for the Peach Auction.

Intersections near the parade route will start shutting down around 8:45 a.m.
