Rocky Mount UMC

As schools wind down for this year, we congratulate our seniors: Jordan Snow of Thorsby High School and Scout Glasscock of Jemison High School. We pray that as you close this chapter in your life and continue down the road, you will recognize and receive the many blessings God has for you.

Our scripture on Sunday was from Acts 10:1-8. This is the first of three sermons that will cover this section of the Bible. One of the main things we took home with us was the question, “How will you share the light of Jesus Christ?” We all need to encourage the spirit of joy in our households. Every home should desire God, proclaim God, serve God and eat with God. Are you working on this for your household?

Join us at Rocky Mount each Sunday to learn more on how to share the wonderful light that we have to share.

God is good!

Prayer concerns: Linda Sullivan, Nanett Fricke, Brittany Gardner, Bobbie and Earl Giles, Byron Cummings, Jean Varden, Judy, Blair Adams, Shane and Hannah Adams, Sandra Gothard, those in the hospitals and nursing homes spoken and unspoken requests.

We had a great day at worship. Amelia and Camron Hubbard sang “Jesus Is Alive and Well.” Gary sang “Your Cries Have Awoken the Master,” and Bro. Sam Price sang “I Am Drinking from My Saucer.”

Pastor Bro. Jeff Carroll’s Text comes from 1 Corinthians 7:1-15 “What Are We Doing?”

Marriage is one man and one woman joined together in holy matrimony, forming a family unit. In today’s world the norm is not to use God’s word to guide our lives, which leads to sexual immorality. It is good for a man not to touch a woman, nevertheless because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

One of the greatest problems in churches today is fornication. To avoid this temptation, there is the need for one man and one woman being joined in marriage. In the last days the Bible teaches us what is wrong will be called right, and what is right will be called wrong. We are living in the last days because this is becoming the norm in today’s society. We need to be more concerned with serving God spiritually rather than serving the flesh.

Marriages are put together by God, but broken up and put asunder by Satan. When you become a Christian, you are no longer a part of this world. When two people are married, if one is Christian and one is not, either the woman can sanctify her husband by living a Christian life and showing him the way to salvation, or a husband can do the same thing for his wife. We must choose God over everyone and everything else. Given a choice by an unbelieving spouse to choose, he or she above serving and obeying God without question we would choose God, or both of you die and go to a devils hell.

What an awesome God we serve! All are invited to come join us for some wonderful praise and worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Cedar Grove Church. Love to all have a blessed week.
