Rex Allen Lowery

Rex Allen Lowery, 60, of Clanton, passed away on May 11 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

He was born in Chilton County on Sept. 4, 1953, the son of the late Hershel Walker Lowery and the late Lillian Iona Melton Lowery.

He was a former forklift operator with Moore Handley.

He was an avid University of Alabama sports fan, along with his passion for fishing.

Lowery loved his family and spent the majority of his life to the care of his mother and two special needs brothers.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley Ann Looney (Billy) of Bessemer; sister, Sandra Elizabeth Mims (Jimmy) of Clanton; sister, Doris Delene Gilbert (Dennis) of Quinton; brother, James Porter Lowery of Clanton; brother, Thomas Eugene Lowery of Clanton; along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hershel Walker Lowery and Lillian Iona Lowery; brothers, Hershel Willis Lowery, Marshall Wayne Lowery and Gerald Douglas Lowery.

Funeral services will be held May 14 at 11 a.m. from the Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Dodson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton.
