Mary Nell P. Culpepper, age 71 of Verbena, passed away on May 8 at her residence.

She was born in Verbena on Feb. 8, 1943, the daughter of the late Abner Joseph Penton and the late Thelma Mae Dennis Penton.

She loved working in her flower gardens and her yard.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by: husband, Bryant Culpepper of Verbena; daughter, Michelle (Erik) West of Jemison; son, Marc (Stephanie) Davis of Oxford; son, Matt (Julia) Davis of Clanton; step-sons: Allen Ray Culpepper of Montgomery, David Bryant Culpepper of Wilsonville, Mitchell Lynn Culpepper of Wilsonville, and Michael Cory Culpepper of Columbiana; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Janice) Penton of Verbena.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Brown and the Rev. Winston Brooks officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Verbena Community Cemetery in Verbena.
