Smith turns 98

Gladys C. Smith, 98, was born April 2, 1916, in Chilton County to Verge and Belle Culver. She was one of five children. She has lived in Clanton all her life.
Gladys Smith (center, seated) celebrated her 98th birthday with family and friends from SouthernCare Hospice.
She married Joe F. Smith on July 4, 1935. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before he passed away in 2004.
She has two children, Joan Bean and Bonny Smith. She has five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
She worked for five probate judges for 36 years in the Chilton County Courthouse.
She is a member of West End Baptist Church in Clanton.
SouthernCare Hospice celebrated Smith’s 98th birthday at her home in Clanton.
