Gerald Walter White Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” Walter White Sr., 74, of Thorsby, passed from this life and entered into his eternal rest on April 26.

He made his triumphant entry into heaven with his family by his side.

He was born on June 3, 1939, in Minneapolis, Minn.

He was a long time resident of Thorsby.

He served faithfully in the United States Navy for more than 18 years, having served in the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict.

He was known by all to be a loving person that would do anything to help his family or neighbors.

He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha B. White; son, Gerald “Jay” Walter White Jr. (Jackie); son, Dr. Michael D. White Sr. (Sharon); daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” White Carter; grandchildren; Bridgette Lupton, David White, Michael D. White Jr., Jonathan White, Clint White, Thomas James Bassett, Sandi White Hamilton, Patrick Bassett and Adam White; great-grandchildren, Auburn Bassett, Sophia White, Kaylee White and Thomas Wayne Bassett; mother, Helen Heath of Minneapolis, Minn.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Diana White and his father, Leslie Heath.

Funeral services will be held May 1 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Michael D. White officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at 2:45 p.m. with military honors in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
