Vera Irene DeVaughn, 90, of Clanton, passed away April 4.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1923, in California, the daughter of the late Jacob Charles Gatschet and the late Rose Amanda Fischer Gatschet.

She was a homemaker.

She worked many years at Levine’s Thrifty Store and V.J. Elmore’s in Clanton before retirement.

She attended Northside Baptist Church in Clanton.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Rose Hayes Hess (Jerry), Patsy Lorene Hayes Sellers (Bill), Amelia DeVaughn Bishop (Buster); two granddaughters; one grandson; one great-grandson; brothers, Jacob Charles Gatschet Jr., James Gatschet; sisters, Laura Coffman and Virginia Martin.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leon Hayes and Joseph Leonard DeVaughn; parents, Jacob and Rose Gatschet; brothers, Fred and Lee Gatschet and sister, Della M. Liams.

Friends were received from 1-3 p.m. April 7 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with services following at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating.

The family requests no flowers, but donations be made to West End Baptist Church Building Fund.
