Rebels win two at Rickwood Field

Thorsby defeated both Vincent, by a score of 7-1, and Shades Mountain Christian, 12-2 in five innings, on Monday at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham.

Against Vincent, Braden McRade started on the mound for THS and pitched five innings, striking out six of the 20 batters he faced while allowing three walks and one hit.

Blake Bradberry pitched two innings in relief and allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three.

The Rebels (12-0) scored five runs—two by McRae—in the first inning.

Matt Morgan had a triple in the game.

Bailey Sellers tossed a complete game against Shades Mountain, striking out nine of the 20 batters he faced.

With the scored tied at 2-all in the third inning, Sellers led off the frame with a single for the Rebels, who ended up scoring six runs in the inning. Two of the runs came off Wesley Posey’s triple.

THS team came from behind for a 13-6 win over Maplesville on March 5.

THS trailed 4-0 in the fifth inning but struck for seven runs in the frame and never trailed again.

Cody Scott led off Thorsby’s half of the inning with a single. Conner McRae loaded the bases, and then Morgan hit a grand slam to tie the game.

Tyler Owens followed Morgan’s home run with one of his own to give the Rebels the lead.

Posey added a two-run double the next inning as the Rebels cruised to the win.

Bradberry was the winning pitcher, as he relieved Bailey Sellers, who pitched two innings in relief of starter Scott, who also lasted two innings.

Braden McRae induced a ground out and struck out two in the seventh inning.
