Editor’s note: Below is a compilation of the statistics and achievements compiled by graduates of Chilton County area schools who now compete at the college level.

Baseball

Cameron Cummings (Chilton County High School 2013) tallies an .800 batting average through three games en route to leading University of South Alabama to a 2-1 record to open the season.

On Feb. 15, the outfielder finished 2-for-2 with one RBI in a 6-3 victory at home against Tennessee Tech (2-1) in Mobile.

On Feb. 16, the freshman followed by ending 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI in a 5-4 loss at home in Game 2 of a series against TTU.

USA will resume competition at New Orleans (1-2) on Feb. 21 in New Orleans.

Alex Campbell (Jemison 2013) finished 2-for-3 with a double as a third baseman for Wallace Community College-Selma (4-4) in a 4-2 loss at home against Holmes Community College (5-1) on Feb. 8 in Selma.

Through six outings, the freshman totals a .294 batting average, a .353 slugging percentage, three RBI, one double and one walk.

On the mound, he totals two appearances and five innings pitched to contribute a 1.8 ERA and two strikeouts.

On Feb. 22, Wallace Community College-Selma will resume competition at home against Lawson State Community College (7-3).

Men’s basketball

Tre Bryant (Jemison 2012) totals seven appearances and one start as a 5-foot-11 guard to compile 2.3 ppg, 0.9 rpg and 0.7 apg for Huntingdon College (8-13, 7-4 USA South Athletic Conference).

Taylor Hughes (Chilton County 2010) scored three points and nabbed season-highs in rebounds (six) and assists (four) for Huntingdon College in an 83-66 victory at home against Piedmont College (8-14, 3-9 USAS) on Feb. 16 in Montgomery.

On Feb. 15, the 6-foot-1 guard nabbed three rebounds at home as the Hawks nearly upset conference-leader Maryville College (16-7, 11-1 USAS) in a 74-72 loss.

For the season, the junior tallies 17 appearances and one start to contribute 1.1 assists per game, 1 point per game and 0.9 rebounds per game heading into the season finale on Feb. 22 at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn.

Women’s basketball

Sharonda Cooper (Thorsby 2012) collected one rebound, one assist and one block for Faulkner State Community College (13-10, 5-3 Alabama Community College Conference) in a 70-58 victory at home against Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (4-15, 2-6 Alabama Community College Conference) on Feb. 10 in Bay Minette.

On Feb. 13, the 5-foot-10 guard followed by hauling in three rebounds in a 63-47 victory at Delgado Community College (4-13-1, 1-4-1 Miss-Lou Junior College Conference) on Feb. 13 in New Orleans.

For the season, the sophomore compiles 17 appearances and six starts to contribute 2 ppg, 1.2 rpg and 0.5 apg.

Markeshia Bailey (Maplesville 2013) tallies six appearances and one start as a 5-foot-7 guard for Wallace Community College-Selma (8-12, 5-3 Alabama Community College Conference), who total wins in seven of the last eight games.

On Feb. 24, WCCS will resume competition at FSCC in Bay Minette.

Softball

Shelby Lopez (Jemison 2012) boasts a .364 batting average and a .636 slugging percentage en route to leading Central Alabama Community College to a 4-0 record to start the season.

On Feb. 6, the sophomore finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and one walk in a 9-3 victory in Game 1 of a series at Huntingdon College (1-2) in Montgomery.

In Game 2, she added a walk in an 11-0 trouncing of HC on Feb. 9.

For the season, she tallies four RBI, three runs, two stolen bases, one double and one triple heading into the next competition at home against East Mississippi Community College (4-5) on Feb. 21 in Alexander City.
