Editor’s note: Below is a compilation of the statistics and achievements compiled by graduates of Chilton County area schools who now compete at the collegiate level.

Men’s basketball

Tre Bryant (Jemison 2012) tallies 0.4 points per game, 0.2 rebounds per game and 0.2 assists per game as a 5-foot-11 guard for Huntingdon College (4-11, 3-3 USA South Athletic Conference), which owned a three-game winning streak heading into a competition at home against LaGrange College (11-7, 5-2 USA SAC) on Jan. 29.

Taylor Hughes (Chilton County 2010) contributed a season-high eight points for Huntingdon College in a 93-83 loss at Averett (8-9, 5-2 USA SAC) on Jan. 19 in Danville, Va.

In the contest, the 6-foot-1 guard finished 3-of-5 shooting and 2-of-4 from beyond the 3-point line.

On Jan. 21, the junior added one assist in a 91-84 victory at home against Birmingham Southern (10-6).

On Jan. 25, he followed with three points, two rebounds and one assist in a 95-92 thrilling triumph at home against North Carolina Wesleyan (7-9, 2-3 USA SAC) in Montgomery.

For the season, he has participated in 12 games and made one start to compile 1.1 points per game, 1.0 rebounds per game and 1.0 assists per game for the Hawks, who were scheduled to resume competition at home against LaGrange College (11-7, 5-2 USA SAC) on Jan. 29.

On Jan. 4, the 6-foot-1 junior contributed in HC’s first win of the season in an 89-88 thriller at Greensboro College (4-9, 1-3 USA SAC) on Jan. 4 in Greensboro, N.C.

Women’s basketball

Sharonda Cooper (Thorsby 2012) produced four points, one rebound and one steal for Faulkner State Community College (9-9, 2-2 Alabama Community College Conference) in a 72-55 loss at Alabama Southern Community College (7-12, 3-2 ACCC) on Jan. 21 in Monroeville.

On Jan. 23, the 5-foot-10 guard followed with two points and one rebound in a 57-49 loss at home against Chattahoochee Valley Community College (10-5, 4-0 ACCC) in Bay Minette.

The sophomore added four points, two rebounds and one assist in a 66-57 loss at LSU-Eunice (19-1) on Jan. 25 in Eunice, La.

Cooper scored two points for Faulkner State in an 82-56 trouncing at home of Faulkner junior varsity on Jan. 11 in Bay Minette.

For the season, she has compiled 12 appearances and five starts to total 2.6 ppg, 1 rpg and 0.7 apg for the Sun Chiefs, who are scheduled to resume competition at Bishop State Community College (1-16, 0-4 ACCC) on Jan. 30 in Mobile.

Markeshia Bailey (Maplesville 2013) posts 0.2 rpg through six games and one start as a 5-foot-7 guard for Wallace Community College-Selma (9-9, 2-2 ACCC), who enter the next competition at home against ASCC in Selma.

Men’s rodeo

Andy Phillips (Maplesville 2011) is listed at No. 13 in total points in the saddle bronc riding event among the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association for No. 23 West Alabama.

In the junior’s most recent competition, he finished third in his respective event with 120 points at the Trojan Stampede on Nov. 23, 2013, in Troy.

On Oct. 21, 2013, he claimed first in his respective event with 170 points at the UWA Rodeo Showdown in Livingston.

Zachary Wilson (Billingsley 2012) is the reigning national champion in the calf roping event for UWA.

In the sophomore’s most recent competition, he ended fourth in his respective event with 50 points at the Trojan Stampede.

Nelson Wyatt (Chilton County 2011) competes in calf roping, team roping and steer wrestling for Troy, which captured its top finish of the season at the Murray State Rodeo by taking fifth on Oct. 6, 2013, in Murray, Ky.

In the competition, the junior snagged eighth place in the calf roping event to tally 35 points.

On Oct. 21, 2013, he garnered fifth place in the calf roping event to total 60 points at the UWA Showdown as TU would claim sixth in the team standings.

On Feb. 20, the Trojans will resume competition at Cossatot Community College in Texarkana, Ark.

Women’s rodeo

Elise Haggan (Chilton County 2013) competes in the barrel racing and goat tying events for No. 11 Troy, which tallies 1,308.33 points for the season.

For the season, the Trojans have swept three of the four competitions the team has completed.

On Feb. 20, TU will open the second half of the season at Cossatot Community College in Texarkana, Ark.

Women’s indoor track and field

Lori Davis (Billingsley 2012) claimed 20th in the shot put and 39th in the weight throw (26’10.75”) at the East Tennessee State University Niswonger Invitational for Alabama State from Jan. 17-18 in Johnson City, Tenn.

In the competition, the Hornets’ sophomore added a 38th in the 60 hurdles (11.77).

On Jan. 31, ASU will resume competition at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind.
