James Elbert Smith

James (Hardrock) Elbert Smith, 69, of Jemison, passed away Jan. 25.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1944, in Chilton County, the son of the late Clarence Elbert Smith and the late Carrie Lee Smith.

He was a machine operator.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Wilson Smith of Jemison; daughter and son-in-law, Mandy Davis and Jeff Schroder of Jemison; son, Buddy Davis (Jamie) of Clanton; grandchildren, Alex DeWitt of Jemison, Chesnee DeWitt of Jemison, Denver DeWitt of Jemison, Alex Schroeder of Anchorage, Alaska, Sydney Schroeder of Anchorage, Alaska, Kyle Davis of Clanton, Sara Beth Davis of Clanton; aunt, Evelyn Popwell of Moody; uncle J.D. Smith of Maplesville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Kaye Smith; sisters, Mildred Faye Stevens, Betty Jo Smith and Robin Nell Smith.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 27 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Evie Megginson officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Randolph.
