Chilton County Commissioner Shannon Welch was approved to be the commission’s hospital board liaison on Monday.

Commission Chairman Allen Caton said that former commissioner Tim Mims served as the commission’s hospital board liaison and would report any developments made by the hospital board to the commission.

Mims passed away in November 2013 and Caton said someone needed to fill the position.

“Shannon has been attending the hospital board meetings and has been reporting back to us so if it is OK with the commission, I would like to appoint him to that position permanently,” Caton said.

Commissioners voted in favor of Caton appointing someone to fill the position.

Caton then appointed Welch during the meeting to serve as the liaison and report back to the commission with any updates and developments from the hospital board.
