The Lake Mitchell Home Owners and Boaters Association (HOBO) will be awarding a $2,500 scholarship to a student in Chilton or Coosa County in spring 2014.

To apply, a student must be a senior in good standing with at least a B average and planning to attend an Alabama college in the fall of 2014.

The student must submit an application form, an essay and participate in one or more Lake Mitchell clean-ups.

Finalists will be interviewed by members of the Scholarship Committee.

For the past several years, with help and support through donations and fundraisers.

Lake Mitchell HOBO has given five students scholarships for $2,500 each to students from Chilton and Coosa County.

Past recipients of the scholarships from Chilton County were Samantha Ray from Chilton County High School, Katie Scott from Thorsby High School and Kailee Burnett from Maplesville High School.
