Javae Swindle (Jemison 2012) compiled 39 yards on eight carries for No. 15 West Alabama (3-1) in a 71-14 victory at home against Concordia (0-3) on Sept. 28 in Demopolis.

For the year, the sophomore running back totals a team-high 373 rushing yards complemented by three touchdowns and a yards-per-carry average of 10.

WSU ranked among the NCAA Div. II Top 25 by the American Football Coaches Association poll released on Sept. 23.

Jacoby Browder II (Pratville 2010) nabbed five tackles and one tackle for loss as a starting cornerback for Tuskegee (3-1, 1-0 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in a 42-13 triumph at Lane (2-2, 0-1 SIAC) on Sept. 28 in Jackson, Tenn.

For the season, the Verbena native has started in every game and contributed nine tackles.

Blake Lawley (Isabella 2010) recorded three tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss as a starting defensive end for Huntingdon College (3-0, 1-0 USASAC) in a 56-35 triumph at home against Ferrum College (0-4, 0-1 USASAC) on Sept. 28 in Montgomery.

For the year, the senior has started every contest this season to contribute nine tackles and one fumble recovery.

Austin Rossi (Chilton County 2013) has participated in two games this season as a linebacker for Birmingham-Southern (3-1, 1-0 Southern Athletic Association) and compiled two tackles.


Andy Phillips (Maplesville 2011) opened the season for West Alabama with a fourth-place finish in the saddle bronc riding competition at the Viking Stampede Rodeo at Missouri Valley College from Sept. 26-28 in Marshall, Mo.


Amber Wyatt (Isabella 2011) tallied six kills and three blocks for South Alabama (5-7, 0-2 Sun Belt Conference) in a 3-0 loss at home against Western Kentucky (12-4, 2-0 SBC) on Sept. 28 in Mobile.

For the season, the junior has participated in eight matches and made three starts to contribute 25 kills, 17 blocks and six digs.

Allison Mims (Isabella 2013) participated in one set for Wallace Community College-Selma (6-7) in a 3-0 loss at home against Wallace State Community College-Hanceville (18-8) on Sept. 24 in Selma.

For the year, the freshman has started in 10 contests to contribute a team-high 16 server aces complemented by 12 digs, six kills and one assist.

Kinslee Mims (Isabella 2013) contributed in one set for WCCS against WSCCH.

For the season, she has participated in three matches.

Elizabeth Compton (Isabella 2013) competed in her first set of the season for WCCS against WSCCH.
