Isabella’s Mustangs ran their record to 4-0 on the season with Friday’s 35-14 win at region foe Horseshoe Bend.

After a scoreless first quarter, Isabella quarterback Tyler Smith struck for a 43-yard scoring run in the second quarter to put the Mustangs ahead.

Host Horseshoe Bend struck back with a 24-yard pass for a touchdown, but IHS grabbed the lead for good when DeRodgus Campbell ran back the ensuing kickoff 62 yards for a touchdown.

After a successful 2-point conversion, Isabella led 15-7.

Isabella’s defense controlled HBHS in the second half, and the offense extended the lead when Smith ran in from 27 yards out.

Horseshoe Bend fumbled away the ensuing kickoff, and Isabella cashed in on the mistake when Smith scored from 25 yards out to give the Mustangs a 28-7 lead with about 2 minutes remaining in the third quarter.

IHS added a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown by Brandon Chapman to cushion their lead.

HBHS scored the final points of the game with less than 1 minute left to play.
