Martha Ann Mims, 79, of Verbena, passed away on Sept. 16 at her residence.

She was born on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1934 in Elmore County, the daughter of the late Ab Strength and the late Betty Blankenship Strength.

She was a furniture carver.

Surviving are her daughter, Debby Raymond (Steven); sons, Wade Shields (Charlene), Hershell Mims (Deborah) and Frank “BoBo” Mims (Lisa); 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Mable Jean Dennison; sisters-in-law, Rexine Strength and Reba Strength.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard “Mickey” Mims; daughter, Gloria Sparks; grandson, Paul Sparks; parents, Ab and Betty Strength; two sisters and five brothers.

Friends were received from 5-8 p.m. on Sept.17 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services were held on Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at Providence No. 2 Church with the Rev. Mike Lawrence and the Rev. Glenn Bonds officiating.

Interment followed in Providence No. 2 Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
