The Marion Academy Panthers defeated the Chilton Christian Patriots on Friday by a final score of 46-20.

The Patriots started out strong during their first home game of the season when junior Trent Ray scored a touchdown in the first quarter with the Patriots recovering the subsequent onside kick.

But the Panthers wound up scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter.

CCA sophomore Jewel Mitchell ran 45 yards for a score in the bottom of the second quarter.

“The guys played with a lot of heart tonight,” CCA coach Michael Pittman said. “They came out here and showed up. I wanted them to play with heart and intensity and I am very proud of them. We were four plays from winning this game and they did a great job.”
