Gene Autry Gothard

Gene Autry Gothard, 74, of Thorsby, passed away on Aug. 24 at his residence.

He is also lovingly known as “Bill” or “Goat” by many.

He was born in Chilton County on Jan. 26, 1939, the son of the late Virgil Gothard and the late Carra Lovett Gothard.

He worked as a maintenance man with the lime plant.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gothard of Thorsby; daughter, Kay Clark (Darrell) of Clanton; daughter, Darlene Littleton (Keith) of Clanton; granddaughter, Britney Littleton of Arlington, Va.; granddaughter, Brianna Tinker (Patrick) of Clanton; grandson, Jacob Littleton of Clanton; granddaughter, Brooke Clark of Clanton; great-grandson, Kason Murr of Clanton; brother, Murel Gothard (Bobbie Jean) of Jemison; sister, S.L. Smith (Sam) of Randolph and a sister, Carolyn Smith (Curtis) of Jemison.

Visitation will be held on Aug. 26 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mars Hills Baptist Church in Jemison.

Funeral services will be held on Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. from Mars Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Hatcher and the Rev. William Earl Short officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison.
