Clanton Police recently arrested two people after a traffic stop revealed their possession of several illicit drugs.

Misty Dawn Cleckler, 22, of Clanton and Aaron Jessie Cook, 19, of Clanton were both charged with methamphetamine packaged to distribute, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of prescription drugs, according to Clanton Police Department Capt. David Clackley.

8.9 ounces of methamphetamine in "ice" form was recovered along with other drugs during a traffic stop.

8.9 ounces of methamphetamine in “ice” form was recovered along with other drugs during a traffic stop.

The two suspects were stopped on Aug. 17 at a fuel station off Fourth Avenue North in Clanton.

A small bag of marijuana, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, a bag containing multiple prescription medications and 8.9 grams of methamphetamine were recovered.

The amount of meth is considered more than what would be for personal use,” Clackley said.

The meth was in “ice” form, which is a purified version of the more common methamphetamine powder.

“We are thankful that our officers were able to get these drugs off the street,” Clackley said in a release.

The suspects have since posted bail.
