Mount Carmel No. 1

It was wonderful to be in the house of the Lord once again. Our cup needs to be refilled regularly. Services were opened with a praise song as we greeted and welcomed our visitors and family of church friends. We are a loving and caring church, striving to better serve our God and community, so come and worship with us.

A fine group of children gathered money for the “Penny March” offering as we enjoyed the piano music by Libby Warren. We love to see our young people taking part in our church services.

“Sin and Its Effects,” from Matthew 8:1-3, was the title of Bro Derrell’s message on Sunday morning: The man with leprosy came to worship the Lord. We can hide our sin, but the leper could not hide his condition. Sin is like leprosy; it spreads and takes over our lives. Sin starts out small in our lives, then it progresses until it controls our lives. Sin is like a disease, and you cannot control it. The unclean man came to Jesus and cried out, Lord, it thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.”

The Sunday evening message was titled “Greatest Evidence,” taken from Galatians 2:20. Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless, I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Are you thankful for the change God made in your life?

Bro. Nolin maudlin will lead our Bible study this Wednesday night as we gather in the fellowship hall for the midweek service.

Remember this Saturday, July 20, beginning at 7 a.m. We will be cutting grass and working at the church. The young people will serve a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. All are invited.

On Sunday, July 21, we will host a house warming from 2-4 p.m. for Landon Lowery’s new home, located at 115 Jackson St. in Thorsby. Everyone is invited.

The youth of our church will hold a yard sale and car wash next to the Jemison Fire Department. Please donate your items to the youth for this event.

Our Homecoming celebration will be Sunday, July 28, beginning at 10 a.m. The gospel group “To the End” from Sylacauga will be the guest singers. Bro. Larry Patterson, who now serves as the pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Bay Minette, will bring the message. He will be returning to his home church after 40 years in the ministry. Lunch will be served following the service and you are invited.

Remember our prayer time on Sunday mornings following Sunday school. Meet us in the prayer room for a few moments of prayer for our church and our services. Pray for all of our sick and shut-ins, and especially the lost.
