Fall prayer walk at schools set for Aug. 4, 18

The Chilton Baptist Association will hold a fall prayer walk at Chilton County schools Aug. 4 and 18.

This year’s walk will take place at schools on Sunday, Aug. 4, and at LeCroy Career Technical Center on Sunday, Aug. 18.

CBA has sponsored a prayer walk at local schools for more than 15 years.

“We encourage everyone to go to the schools and walk to each door and pray,” coordinator Bobbie Traywick said. “You may go at any time convenient to you during the weekend or at the time scheduled.”

According to Traywick, the walk initially consisted of churches in CBA going to pray at schools to ensure every school in the county would have someone there to pray.

“We may think that the students do not notice, but they do,” Traywick said. “Please go out to the schools of your choice and pray on Aug. 4, and pray for the safety of each student and the staffs of the schools, for our superintendent and the board of education that they will continue to make the right decisions for the students.”

The walk is open to anyone interested in participating.

Participants may go to all of the schools or to individual schools of their choice.

The annual spring prayer walk has taken place since 2004, and a fall prayer walk was later added to provide two walks every year.

The fall prayer walk is normally held the first Sunday in August, and the spring walk is held the first Sunday in April unless Easter is the same day.

The 2013 fall prayer walk schedule is as follows:
