Essie Evelyn Land, 93, of Panama City Beach died on June 23 at Panama City Beach, Fla.

She was born on Tuesday, June 15, 1920, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Oscar Allen Posey and the late Ollie Celina Warren Posey.

She was a retired cashier in retail sales.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Land (Pat) of Panama City Beach, Fla., Roger Land (Joyce) of Jemison; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a host of great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Bevie Ashmore of Jemison, Bessie Tillery of Jemison and Carolyn (Jimmy) Smitherman of Randolph; brother, Bob Posey (Judy) of Jemison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ollie Posey; husband, Pete Land; grandsons, Allen Land, Chris Land and Wade Waldrop.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on June 26 at Ashmore Freewill Baptist Church in Jemison.

Services will be held on June 26 at 1 p.m. at Ashmore Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Evie Megginson and the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
