A wreck on Thursday between two 18-wheelers and three passenger cars along Interstate 65 shortly after 7 p.m. resulted in minor injuries.

Clanton Fire Chief David Driver said CFD was dispatched at 7:05 p.m. to the 206-mile marker along I-65 North.

Driver said there were two 18-wheelers and at least three passenger cars involved but only one minor injury. The person with the injury was transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center by ambulance.

“There was a large diesel fuel and oil spill that required the state highway department to bring out several loads of sand,” Driver said. “Both northbound lanes were closed for several hours for cleanup.”

Clanton Fire Department, Clanton Police Department and ambulance agencies responded to the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the wreck.
