Flora Dean Thornhill Smitherman, 87, of Clanton, passed away on June 12 at her residence in Clanton.

She was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1926, in Alabama, the daughter of the late David Columbus Wilson and the late Evie Lee Robinson Wilson.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her three daughters, Barbara Cleckler, Karen (Marvin) Parker, Patsy (Robert) Knapp; son, James (Sue) Thornhill; son-in-law, Thomas Brewer; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ned Thornhill; second husband, Wilbur Smitherman; daughter, Carolyn Brewer; and grandson, Terry Cleckler.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on June 13 at New Hope Baptist Church in Jemison.

Services will be held on June 14 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Jemison with the Rev. Calvin Smitherman and the Rev. Jeff Mims officiating.

Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Jemison.
