Come and worship with us on Sunday.

Mars Hill Baptist Church

God bless the USA, today and every day. As we celebrated Memorial Day, most of us had a three-day weekend. Some of you probably spent it on the lake, by the pool grilling burgers or making homemade ice cream. All of that is good, but I hope you remembered to thank the veterans of our armed forces, said a prayer for our troops overseas or shook the hand of an elderly man who gave it everything he had in World War I or II, Vietnam or Korea. If it were not for those who choose to serve, I would not have the freedom to write this, you would not have a paper delivered to your home in order to read it and most importantly, we would not have the freedom of religion that we have today. We can serve the living, true God in churches all across America because of our brave men and women who put it all on the line every day for you and me. God bless our troops!

This Sunday was also Homecoming at Mars Hill Baptist Church. We started our service off with our special singers, “Justified.” They truly filled our hearts with a message from God through song. We thank them for being with us and pray they continue their ministry for Jesus.

Bro. William Short brought our message from Mark 4:24-29. Scripture tells us to take heed what we hear. “With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you, and to you who hear, more will be given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

Use whatever God has given you. The old phrase “use it or lose it” is very true. If you have a talent, use it for God. If you have a talent and chose not to use it for God, it can be taken away from you, and given to another who is willing to obey him. If you chose to not use your talents for God, you won’t miss it ‘til it’s gone. Then it’s too late.

The same goes for being saved. Hear the Word, believe the Word and act on the Word. If you don’t, you just might wake up in hell; nobody wants that to happen! Always, you hear someone say, “Well, I want to go to heaven, but not today.” Maybe you don’t want to be on the next train out of here, but brother, you’d better have your bags packed and ready because it could happen at any time. Be ready!

Verse 26 tells us the kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, go to sleep at night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he does not know how. The earth yields crops of itself, first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. When the grain ripens, then the harvest has come.

The earth is full of grain (people), and God is waiting to put in the sickle and reap the harvest (saved souls) for his son, Jesus. He is coming back, and brother, it could just be today. Again, the Word of God tells us to be ready, to watch the eastern sky and be ready. Jesus is coming soon.

We are so thankful for those who chose to attend our Homecoming Day at Mars Hill. We were truly blessed to have you and hope that you come again. Remember our Vacation Bible School June 9-13. We will have an adult class again this year, and look forward to what God has for us.

God is great, all the time. Please pray for our church, the sick, the lost, the hurting, our troops, our country and our children. Amen.
