Elwood Curtis Dennis Jr., 61, of Clanton passed away on May 7 at Baptist East Hospital in Montgomery.

He was born in Prattville on Jan. 5, 1952, the son of the late Elwood C. Dennis Sr. and the late Vivian I. Edwards Dennis.

He was a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Dennis of Clanton; son, Benny E. Payton (Margaret) of Maplesville; daughter, Penny Mims of Clanton; daughter, Sherry Ware (John) of Panama City, Fla.; son, Michael Gould (Stephanie) of Lawley; daughter, Heather Rawlinson of Verbena; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Melanie Kent of Hueytown; sister, Veronica “Geraldine” Dennis of Hueytown and brother, James Dennis of Hueytown.

He is preceded in death by son, Steven Payton; son-in-law, Jacob Rawlinson; brother Acie Edwards and sister, Renea Dennis.

A public visitation will be held on May 9 from 5-7 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
