CCHS tennis finishes 10th at state

Chilton County High School’s girls tennis team finished in 10th place in the Class 5A state tournament last week.

In the No. 3 position bracket, CCHS’s Mary Colby Kelley was victorious in her first-round match against Valley’s Shelby Smith, 6-2, 6-2 before falling to Cullman’s Olivia Sharpton, 6-1, 6-0.

Playing in the No. 6 position, Caitlyn Smith defeated Valley’s Sydney Knight, 6-0, 6-0 before falling to Arab’s Kacey Narrell, 6-2, 6-0.

In the No. 2 doubles bracket, Chilton’s Anna Adams and Anna Bearden defeated a duo from Benjamin Russell, 6-2, 6-3. The Tigers team then fell to a Hartselle duo, 6-0, 6-2.
