Cedar Grove Church

Visitors are always welcome and appreciated. Today I would like to name a few of the visitors by name: Bro. Roger Vines, his family and Willie Price. We were glad to see Bro. Roger Dale Mims back with us today.

Our special music was provided by Sam Price, singing “I Believe in Jesus” and “Let Your Light Shine Down On Me.” Such a blessing!

Bro. Jeff Carroll’s worship text came from Psalm 34:4-5, titled “Desires of the Heart.”

Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart. Ask, seek and knock. You have not because you ask not. We need to be careful here in thinking, “Well, I can ask God for whatever I desire and he will give it to me.” Not exactly. First, we should be living our lives in the will of God, seeking to please him in all that we do. We should believe that he is the “I Am,” our one true and living God. We have to believe he is our redeemer, deliverer, provider and protector. Have faith, because without faith, it is impossible to please God. God wants us to realize that in seeking him and his will, he will grant us the desires of our heart.

Announcements:

Homecoming will be Aug. 18, the third Sunday in August instead of the fourth. Bro. Randy Perry will be our guest speaker. Revival will be Aug. 19-21. Everyone is welcome.

Prayer concerns: Gary Hubbard, Roger Cleckler, Byron Cummings, Billy Wyatt, our church family, our pastors, our country and its leaders, those in nursing homes and hospitals, Joyce Scott and family, spoken and unspoken requests.

We invite you to make Cedar Grove your home church. God Bless, and have a great week.

Calvary Independent Baptist Church

We want to thank everyone for attending services this weekend.

Sunday morning’s service included a message from John 5:19-25 titled, “Who Is This Man Called Jesus.” There is no other name under heaven whereby man must be saved. Today, many religions claim to honor God, the Father, yet ignore who Christ is.

After the preaching service, we had a baptismal service. Praise the Lord for his saving grace.

Sunday night’s service included a song service, then a message from Matthew 6. Bro. Kevin Shaw preached on God creating us all individually, different for all intents and purposes. We should try more to be the person we were created to be, rather than trying to change ourselves into someone we were not created to be.

After the message, we had a fellowship meal downstairs celebrating this month’s birthdays and anniversaries.

We invite you to visit with us during any of our services. We are located in south Clanton, just past Dollar General, off U.S. 31 on Fulmer Drive. Sunday school: 9 a.m., Children’s Church and adult worship service: 10 a.m., Sunday evening service: 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday service: 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Pastor Oscar Mims at 205-755-9399.
