Before his sermon, Bro. Steve sang “The Ninety and Nine.” His sermon was taken from 1 Samuel 25:23-31, which he called, “A Good Woman Married a Bad Man.”

Nabal was very wealthy, but selfish and hostile, refusing to give aid to David’s men. Nabal’s wife, Abigail, on the other hand, was a woman of good character and wisdom. She had an occasion, without the knowledge of her husband, to prepare a feast for David and his men and to warn him of impending danger. She also interceded for her husband by asking that he be forgiven. David was a wise man, and a true leader who listened to the advice of courageous and loyal Abigail.

Sunday evening, Bro. Steve brought a message on the 23rd Psalm, explaining seven names of Jehovah that can be applied to various phrases in this Psalm: Jehovah-Jireh, Jehovah-Shalom, Jehovah-Rophe, Jehovah-Tsidkenu, Jehovah-Shammah, Jehovah-Nissi, and Jehovah-M’Kaddesh.

God is our provider, our peace, our healer, our salvation, our comfort, our protection and our sanctification.

A wedding reception for Michelle Rodriguez and Glenn Vines will be held in the fellowship building at our church at 6 p.m. on May 18. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Prayer list: Betty Biggs, James Bixler, Doris and Verdie Glenn, Billie Neeley, Marty Price’s family, Elzie Sanders, Travis Swift, Madison Varden and Glenda Wallace.

See you Sunday!
