Rocky Mount United Methodist Church

Welcome to Passover Week. Join us March 28, Maundy Thursday, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary for a communion service. Friday is Good Friday, the day on which we commemorate the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, the act that brought salvation to all who believe. On Sunday morning, we will have our Easter worship service, followed by a potluck lunch. Come join us, and bring a friend.

Our Wednesday evening services continue with Bible study and youth fellowship at 6:30 p.m.

We will never be obedient enough for God. We have all fallen short of the glory of God, yet, by his grace, we are saved. God took this awful event, the crucifixion, and used it in such a way that we still celebrate it over 2000 years later. We should all be shouting every day, “Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” We should bow physically—or mentally, if we can’t bow physically—as it is only in this way that we are emptied of our own importance. We need to be emptied out, ready to receive God’s fulfilling love.

Join us on WKLF-FM 99.5 on Thursday mornings at 7:30 a.m. and receive a true blessing as we broadcast our previous Sunday sermon. Call us at 688-2204 for more information.

Services started with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the following hymns: “Are You Washed In the Blood,” “Jesus Is Coming Soon,” “Getting Ready to Leave this World” and “Come and Dine.”

Bro. Roger Cleckler gave a devotion from Exodus 24:15-18: We as Christians have very little patience. Moses stayed on Mount Sinai for six days, and on the seventh day, the Lord spoke to him. Like Moses, we need to wait patiently on the Lord and he will bless us.

After Sunday school, Bro. Kenneth led the church in the hymn “That Glad Reunion Day,” and Bro. Sam Ross and Debbie Barnett sang “He’ll See You Through.”

Bro. Tim Scott and his family were with us this Sunday. Bro. Tim preached from Colossians 3:13: We need the word of God because it purifies a Christian’s life, and because it was written with a purpose. Is the word of God written in your heart?

Sunday night’s service began with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the hymns “Oh, I Want to See Him,” “The Old Gospel Ship” and “Keep On the Firing Line.”

Bro. Kenneth Moates gave a devotion from Numbers 14:9: Every time the devil tries to sidetrack us we just need to stay focused and fear not.

Kevin Vines sang “He’s All I Need,” and blessed the church with a wonderful song. Bro. Tim Scott preached from Ruth 1:11-16: We need to be bold and tell others about Jesus. When we strive to be better, we will be satisfied in Christ.

We will have sunrise service at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning with Bro. Wayne Hughes preaching. Our services will be at 9:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter, and remember to be thankful for the true reason of why we celebrate this holiday.
