Three local baseball teams advance (updated)

Three local high school baseball teams advanced past the first round of the state playoffs.

Jemison won two close games at Corner, 6-5 and 11-10.

Maplesville defeated Verbena twice, 12-1 and 12-2.

Billingsley topped Wadley, 7-6 and 12-2.

The three teams will play in the second playoff round beginning next week.

Thorsby, meanwhile, lost two games at Sipsey Valley, 5-2 and 2-0.

Chilton County High School fell in two games to Briarwood Christian, 15-5 and 6-3.
