Many of the high school baseball playoff games scheduled for Friday have been cancelled because of heavy rain in the area.

Six local teams were to compete in best-of-three, first-round playoff series.

Billingsley’s series against Wadley was pushed back to Saturday at BHS, with the first game scheduled for noon and a second game to follow. The third game of the series, if necessary, would be played at 2 p.m. Monday.

Chilton County High School will host Briarwood Christian at 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday. The time of the third game, on Monday, was not immediately available.

Verbena will host Maplesville for a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday. Game 3 would be at 3 p.m. Monday.

Thorsby will visit Sipsey Valley for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. THS coach Ab Argent wasn’t immediately sure what time the third game would be played Monday.

Jemison’s series at Corner will go on as originally scheduled: 5 and 7 p.m. Friday, and 1 p.m. Saturday.
