Rain forces postponement of some playoff baseball series (updated)

Many of the high school baseball playoff games scheduled for Friday have been cancelled because of heavy rain in the area.

Six local teams were to compete in best-of-three, first-round playoff series.

Billingsley’s series against Wadley was pushed back to Saturday at BHS, with the first game scheduled for noon and a second game to follow. The third game of the series, if necessary, would be played at 2 p.m. Monday.

Chilton County High School will host Briarwood Christian at 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday. The time of the third game, on Monday, was not immediately available.

Verbena will host Maplesville for a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday. Game 3 would be at 3 p.m. Monday.

Thorsby will visit Sipsey Valley for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. THS coach Ab Argent wasn’t immediately sure what time the third game would be played Monday.

Jemison’s series at Corner will go on as originally scheduled: 5 and 7 p.m. Friday, and 1 p.m. Saturday.
