Oneal Shelnut, 79, of Powder Springs, Ga. passed away on April 18, 2013.

The son of the late Emmett Oneal Shelnut and the late Cola Chaffin Shelnut, he was born in Jasper on June 26, 1933. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Shelnut in 2011.

Mr. Shelnut was a member of Thorsby First Baptist Church and had worked as a salesman in the pest control business.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Heather Shelnut of Cumming, Ga., David and Karen Shelnut of North Carolina and Darrell and Tammy Shelnut of Powder Springs, Ga.; daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Terry Lee of Albany, Ga. and Renee and Terry Lacey of Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held on April 20, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. from Croft Acton Cemetery in Hoover with the Rev. Wade Acton officiating.

Grandsons and nephews of Mr. Shelnut will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on April 19 at Clark Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. and on April 20 at the graveside in Hoover from 11 a.m. until noon.

Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
