Authorities are continuing to investigate a shooting that happened on April 5 on County Road 265 leaving two injured and one arrested.

Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis said deputies responded to a call shortly before midnight on April 5 from County Road 375 of a gunshot wound. Davis said when the deputies arrived on the scene they found one victim who had been shot but did not have any life threatening injuries.

Deputies were able to determine that the shooting occurred on County Road 265 when four individuals in a car were traveling down the road and Maxie David Reeves, from Clanton, shot at the car.

Although the shooting occurred on County Road 265 where Reeves lives, the call was made from one of the passengers of the car that traveled to County Road 375 and reported the shooting.

Davis was unable to confirm if Reeves knew the four individuals traveling in the car or the names of the four individuals and said an investigation is continuing to find out why Reeves shot at the car.

However, Davis did confirm that in addition to the victim suffering from a gunshot, another individual in the car was also injured.

“This is still an ongoing investigation,” Davis said. “We do know that Reeves shot at the car from his property on County Road 265.”

Reeves was arrested and charged with two counts of assault second degree and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling or vehicle.

Davis said Reeves was taken to the Chilton County Jail where he posted bond but did not know the amount of his bond.
