A team of motorcycle riders from This Is Bliss, LLC, will be hosting a motorcycle ride to raise money for the American Cancer Society on April 6.

Event organizer and captain of the “Blissful Knights” team, Sharon Russell, said the idea came from a passion she and her husband share.

“My husband and I ride,” she said. “We thought it would be a good way to raise money for Relay of Life. [The charity ride] is a new thing for us.”

The ride will travel 105 miles round trip, going through Chilton, Coosa and Shelby counties, with a stop in Childersburg at Road King Leather before ending at Boomerang’s in Clanton.

A raffle of gifts donated from sponsors will be held at the end of the ride. Tickets will be available for purchase at Walmart in Clanton during sign-up beginning at 8:30 a.m. the day of the ride.

Russell said that anyone with a motorcycle could enter, but that all entries have to be powered by an engine. In addition to the stop in the middle for rest, extra measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the riders.

“We will have a truck and trailer with a registered nurse from Hueytown and a mechanic at the tail end of the [pack],” she said.

The cost to enter is $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. Tickets for the raffle are $1 apiece, or six for $5. Entry forms can be found at ThisIsBlissLLC.com/relay_for_life.
