A wreck involving two vehicles on Highway 31 at about 12:15 p.m. on Thursday resulted in two adults being airlifted to UAB and a child being taken to Children’s Hospital.

Authorities are still investigating the wreck that happened in front of Shade Tree Drive, the road that leads to the Chilton County Humane Society.

Clanton Fire Chief David Driver said it did appear to be a head-on collision between a white Ford pick-up truck and a green Mazda.

Names of the victims were not released but a female was driving the pick-up truck and a male along with a small child was in the Mazda.

Clanton Fire Department, Clanton Police Department, Chilton County Sheriff’s Department and several ambulance crews were working the scene of the accident that shut down Highway 31 south in Clanton for more than 30 minutes.

Two emergency helicopters were dispatched to transport the two adults injured in the wreck. The child was taken by RPS to Children’s Hospital.
