Jackson Chapel Church

Bro. Gary Fant got the morning service started off with “There Is Power in the Blood” and “Amazing Grace.”

Bro. Dennis’ text came from Matthew 12:43-45: We as Christians need to remember that the more we step up and try to do more for God, the more Satan will stay on us. There is nothing we go through that God can’t help us with. There will be times when we will go through dry places in our lives. We realize how big God is when we look back and see that he has brought us to where we are now from where we were.

The service ended with several coming to pray.

Bro. Gary Fant got the evening service started off with “Won’t It Be Wonderful There,” “Oh, I Want To See Him” and “Just Over in the Glory Land.” Bro. Dennis blessed us with “Master of the Sea.”

Bro. Dennis’ text came from Daniel 3:16-28: We as Christians need to have a desire to be like Christ so that when we are out in this lost and dying world, we will be different. We also need to have the dedication it takes to serve Jesus Christ, and if we will do this, we will always come out a winner over the trials we face.

Happy Birthday to Luke Wilson.

Please remember these as you pray this week: the Rhodes family, Marie Johnson, Bro. George Williams, Amy Solis’ dad, our lost loved ones, and our service men and women.

We are located at 4020 Yellow Leaf Road in Clanton. Our service times are Sunday School: 10 a.m., Sunday morning worship: 11 a.m., Sunday evening worship: 6 p.m. and Wednesday evening Bible study: 7 p.m.

Bethany Baptist Church

We were thankful for the beautiful weather on Sunday and for the privilege of coming to the Lord’s house to worship him through singing and the preaching of God’s word. The special was sung by a quartet that included Phyllis and Steve Vickers and James and Jean Gray. They sang “Weary Prodigal, Come.”

Bro. Steve brought a message from Ruth 1. The Book of Ruth is a wonderful story of salvation, restoration and redemption. The pastor’s outline included these topics: “Difficult Choice,” “Disastrous Consequences” and “Devout Commitment.” In the lesson, we learned there was something about Naomi’s life that showed her faith in God. Ruth showed her love and dedication for her mother-in-law, Naomi, by her words in verses 16 and 17, and those words are a picture of God’s love for us.

Bro. Steve’s evening message concerned Barabbas. He used scripture from all four gospels for the message, as well as the following outline: Barabbas’ name, his crimes, and his substitute. From the lesson, we learned the crowd demanded that this wicked man, Barabbas, be released and that Jesus Christ be crucified instead. Jesus died in Barabbas’ place. This is a picture of Christ, in his innocence and submissiveness, willingly dying in our place for our sins that we might be saved.

Prayer list: Betty Biggs, James Bixler, Ada Church, Arnold DeLoach, Dovie Dykes’ family, Doris and Verdie Glenn, Hubert Griffin, Mildred Griffin’s family, Laverne and Dick Hayes, Robert Hayes, Cathy Lenoir family, Vikii Mims, Billie Neeley, Lillianna Thompson and Glenda Wallace.

See you Sunday!
