Trinity church to hold special service

Published 8:44pm Friday, March 1, 2013

As part of the mid-week Lenten Prayer Service schedule for 2013, Trinity Episcopal Church will offer a special Taize Prayer Service on March 6 at 6:45 p.m.

This service is open to the entire community. Trinity is located at 503 Second Ave. S. in downtown Clanton.

Taize is an ecumenical monastery in France where a community of prayer and work have gathered over the past 60 years.

The Taize mission is that of reconciliation and understanding among all peoples of faith, especially the Christian faith. The style of prayer and music has become known to many around the world and will be offered at Trinity Episcopal Church on March 6.

The Taize music style is a simple and repetitive chant that draws everyone together with a tone that is both easy to sing but deeply spiritual. The worship setting for the evening service will include many religious icons and candles. The singing during the 45-minute service will be accompanied by harp, violin, guitar and keyboard.
