Missing Jemison female found after being lost for two days

Published 2:17pm Friday, February 22, 2013

When Barnett was located she was more than six miles from her home.

Barnett was treated on the scene by an emergency medical team and taken to a hospital to be treated. Investigators are still determining the cause of Barnett’s disappearance.

Davis said everyone who was actively helping to locate Barnett had plans to keep searching for her until she was found.

“At the time of day she was found, there were already plans being made to fly the helicopter at night and the search dogs were going to stay until Friday,” Davis said. “When somebody is missing, you don’t want to give up until you find them.”

Davis said it is not difficult to become disoriented after being lost in the woods.

“The more time you spend in the woods, the more they all start to look the same and you forget where you are,” Davis said. “We are just happy she was found and the situation was not worse than what it could have been.”
