Richard Cecil Franklin, age 82 of Thorsby, passed away on Feb. 7, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Chilton County on Feb. 16, 1930, the son of the late Monroe Franklin and the late Virgie Dawson Franklin.

He was a retired construction superintendent.

He is survived by wife, Gladys Scott Franklin of Thorsby; son, Jerry (Janice Hayes) Franklin of Thorsby; son, Gary (Kay Ward) Franklin of Alabaster; grandson, Jeremy (Jana Farris) Franklin of Thorsby; grandson, Trent Franklin of Auburn; and great-grandson, Brady Franklin of Thorsby.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, from 6–8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. from Mt. Carmel Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Derrell Jones, the Rev. John Dennis and the Rev. Chad Foshee officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church No. 1 Cemetery in Thorsby.

The family would like to give special thanks to Alacare Hospice and special caregivers, Laura Liveoak and Louise Liveoak.
