All students in Chilton County schools are invited to participate in a contest to design the 2013 Peach Festival T-shirts.

The Clanton Lions Club is partnering with the Chilton County Arts Council to hold the first-ever contest open only to school-aged children to design the front of the T-shirts that will be sold prior to this year’s Peach Festival in June.

The student with the winning design entry will receive $100.

The contest is free for any student in the county to enter, and the deadline to submit designs is Tuesday, Feb. 5.

“We really wanted to try to make an effort to get some more community involvement,” Lions Club President Hollis Jackson said. “This is just one of the big things we do every year. It would be great to have a local student be able to see a picture they drew on the shirts all summer long.”

Entries must adhere to the theme “2013 Peach Festival” and must be students’ original artwork in black and white only; no lettering or computer-generated images will be accepted.

The Lions Club will choose a winner after Feb. 5 and will notify the winner by phone or e-mail using the contact information listed on the entry form.

One entry per person will be accepted. Multiple entries will be disqualified.

Drawing sizes must be between 6-by-6 inches and 12-by-8 inches.

Students may use pencil, Sharpie, marker, paint, charcoal, pastels or ink.

Entries should include a student’s name, phone number, e-mail address and school.

They can be mailed to Chilton County Arts Council, P.O. Box 2561, Clanton, AL 35046, or e-mailed (.jpg or .gif) to chiltoncountyartscouncil@hotmail.com.

Entry forms are available on the Chilton County Arts Council’s Facebook page, or call 205-294-2400.
