Commission sets hearing to discuss humane society funding

• Accepted a second grievance letter from county employee Carlee Ellison and agreed to accept the letter with the next grievance hearing scheduled for Jan. 28. Commissioner Bobby Agee voted against the motion to hold the grievance hearing with Caton abstaining. The commissioners previously held a grievance hearing at the request of Ellison on Nov. 26, 2012, with lawyer Bill Speaks representing Ellison.

At the Nov. 26 meeting, commissioners asked Speaks if his client wanted to have the hearing opened or closed with Speaks informing commissioners Ellison wanted the meeting to be closed.

On Dec. 10, commissioners voted to re-instate Ellison’s position with the road department.

• Passed a motion approving and accepting actions of the chairman on behalf of the commission to handle a letter of reprimand regarding a county employee. Commissioners voted in favor of the motion with commissioner Shannon Welch abstaining from the vote.
